Right.
Once upon a time in a place not so very far away, a boy and a girl fell in love. When they reached their early twenties they got married and a few years later had a bouncing baby boy. That year was 1983. Michael (for so he was named) grew up to become a right little pain in the arse, even more so when his family moved to deepest darkest Scotland. Poor Mike was in such a mess. He could not understand any of his new classmate's broad Dundonian accents, nor they his irritating Liverpudlian whine. Always the resourceful little chap, within a few years he had developed an eastern Scottish voice all of his own, and lived happily among the natives for many blissful years having acquired two sisters and a baby brother.
But change was in the air. By this point little Mike was in his 13th year, and once again uprooted from the place he had grown to love. The Smith family were heading south! Deep south! All the way to Winchester in merry olde Hampshire, England. At first, this was a great shock, but after a few weeks the hormonal little renegade discovered that his Caledonian accent was a splendid asset in wooing the ladies with his northern charm. And so it began.
The weeks turned into months, the months to years, and before he knew it Mike had blossomed into a young man, with a keen interest in sports, most notably snowboarding, kayaking and football. He had also evolved into a bit of a carefree scamp, and began to do all sorts of ludicrous things to himself for the entertainment of others, but we shall leave that for another day. During a friends 19th birthday, a 30 foot high railway bridge loomed into view near the kebab house after many joyous hours spent quaffing such fine beverages as Guinness and Polish chilli vodka. Feeling adventerous, our hero climbed atop this feat of human engineering and promptly threw himself off it, onto the waiting tarmac below.
Awakening with a start, Mike realised he was in hospital. His feet hurt. He tried to sit up to nurse the pain only to be restrained by the nurse who informed him he had in fact broken his spine. This was not going to be a good day. After an operation or two to piece his heel bones and left arm back together, as well as a good many weeks of wearing a body brace to prevent the bending of his back, Michael was discharged from hospital. Only too glad to escape, especially after recieving an enema on his 19th, he went home in a wheelchair. It would only be for a few months though. 'What to do during all this time crippled?' thought the protagonist. 'Perhaps I shall give this anime malarky a go'. And here we are, about three years later with a fully healed Michael with a developed fandom for all cartoons Japanese, and for those of you that are interested, he's back to his old tricks once again.
